Reflections

From a certain perspective, we are all on a spiritual journey, whether we realise it or not. We share a yearning to make sense of what I refer to as ‘the divine mystery’ — the problem of why we are here and (if we are theologically inclined) the nature, activity and purposes of God.

My own spiritual journey was ignited during my teenage years due to the spiritual explorations that resulted from coming from a broken family. I became fascinated with Eastern philosophy and the idea of enlightenment and engaged with a variety of spiritual practices in an attempt to find peace of mind and healing.

Surprisingly, my search for enlightenment resulted in coming to an awareness of the reality of an omnipotent and omnipresent God who governs all things. I was so enamoured with this discovery that I felt compelled to write a book documenting the spiritual journey that led me to my discovery of God, and this journey to what I regard as ‘real’ enlightenment is recalled in The Philosophy of a Mad Man, which is the first book I wrote.
