Materialists solve the problem by arguing that our brains are like machines that power our thoughts, but this view is lacking, because it begs the further question of what is causing our brains to cause our thoughts?!
Some argue that we have autonomy as creatures and that this is why we think when we do. Such people have usually not been awakened to the existence of a Creator God who governs all things, mainly because they have neglected to pray and take sacred Scripture seriously.
