It is an enormous blessing to have my own room, food and drink every day, and sometimes, the opportunity to take a little leave. I also have bedding, clothes, and some belongings which bring me joy.
People on the ward have been finding it difficult to sleep because there is one patient who appears to be overcome with evil, which I suppose is just the unexpressed potential for solemn repentance.
There are all kinds of heretical ideas being branded around the ward — “The Ethiopian Bible is the true Bible” is one example. Weak Christians latch on to anything that allows them to escape confronting the reality of their need to humble themselves before God and repent. They will exercise as a form of escapism, eat excessively as a form of escapism, abuse others as a form of escapism, smoke cigarettes and vapes as a form of escapism, etc.
The troublesome patient has been acting in a cruel way towards me and I think others, and God only knows the thoughts that are going through his mind. I have been praying for him to make a full recovery and this is my sincere wish. I don’t think antipsychotic medication is very helpful for anyone, but prayers for people who are in distress can have a miraculous effect.
I will continue to trust the Lord is hearing my prayers for my brother and that he will soon settle into a state of peace.
