Reflections

I have worked very hard to self-publish books that offer a genuinely interesting read, yet sales have stalled to near zero in recent months. I think there are many reasons why, and here are a few of them:

1. Promotion fatigue. People are sick of reading messages encouraging them to buy things.
2. Lack of love. This is a strange one. I have tried circulating press releases, running advertising campaigns on WordPress and LinkedIn, and working temporarily with a freelance book promoter, but none of these actions have led to any sales. I think it’s because people are only interested in buying self-published books from an author website when they have a genuine relationship with the author. I have faced widespread rejection from friends, relatives, blog readers, email recipients, and the public, due to becoming well-known, envied, and resented.
3. I am controversial. Many people don’t like or trust me. I speak boldly and honestly about many things and this creates fear and hatred in people.
4. Persecution. I have experienced widespread persecution for my faith and continue to do so.
5. A lack of desire to support. I am a very self-confident person and I think some people like to buy things to feel they are helping others. Because I don’t exude insecurity, people don’t feel the need to support me.
6. Belief confidence. Some people don’t wish to read books about philosophy and religion because they are so confident of their own beliefs. I’m rather like that myself.
