Today, I had a wonderful conversion with a Muslim, who has been working on staff at the hospital here. I always considered him to be much more ‘godly’ and ‘pure in spirit’ than many of the other staff on the ward, and we have had quite a few conversations about Christianity and Islam.

Recently, I have been more confident of my Christian faith than ever before, but it’s interesting that some years ago, God led me to read the Qur’an. The Qur’an impacted me deeply, leading me to fall to floor in prostration on many occasions and read it on a daily basis for some time. It was difficult for me trying to understand how this powerful Scripture, as I then believed it was, related to the Bible and my Christian faith.

The Christian life is a journey and often things that seem confusing begin to make sense further down the line.

Chatting with the Muslim staff member today, we went into quite a lot of detail about the Bible and the Qur’an, though of course, neither of us has exhaustive knowledge of either.

However, as I spoke certain scriptures that God graciously brought to mind (from the Bible, which I believe to be the true and only Scripture), I witnessed a remarkable thing. My brother appeared to make the pronouncement that Jesus is God!

Immediately I saw divine light fill his being and I believe he may have had the salvific blood of Jesus applied to him in that moment, giving him the experience of true enlightenment.

I think what was perhaps the decisive thing in our conversation, and what was very helpful to my own certainty of faith, was that I asked him whether he has a conversational relationship with God in his mind, and he said he didn’t. Perhaps, when I said that I speak with God continually, there was a yearning within him for such an experience.

Invite the Lord Jesus to be your Lord and Saviour, and perhaps God will graciously apply His salvific work to your soul as well.
